De techmiljardair is door ASML gevraagd om donderdag op de bijeenkomst via een videoverbinding te komen praten, schrijft het Eindhovens Dagblad. Volgens het ED vinden de medewerkers dat de opvattingen van Musk haaks staan op de kernwaarden van ASML, gelijkheid en inclusiviteit. Ze wijzen op wat zij zien als nazisympathieën en op zijn anti-Europese houding, schrijven ze op een intern communicatiekanaal. Om hoeveel werknemers het gaat is niet bekend. ASML heeft de uitnodiging van Musk aan de NOS bevestigd. Volgens een woordvoerder zal hij tijdens de besloten conferentie "zijn visie delen op AI, robotica, ruimtevaart en halfgeleiderproductie". De onderwerpen zijn volgens het bedrijf relevant voor de medewerkers. Volgens het bedrijf worden geregeld technologieleiders uit de industrie uitgenodigd om hun inzichten te delen. "De uitnodiging aan Elon Musk vond plaats in het kader van het Terafab-project, dat zeer relevant is voor de halfgeleiderindustrie." Mega chipfabriek Musk maakte eerder dit jaar bekend dat hij een chipfabriek (Terafab) wil bouwen in de Amerikaanse staat Texas. Het is een gezamenlijk project van Tesla, SpaceX en chipgigant Intel. Voor de megafabriek heeft hij volgens het ED de geavanceerde chipmachines van ASML nodig. ASML zegt in de verklaring dat via het Terefab-project Musk "onderdeel zal worden van het bredere ecosysteem van onze industrie. Veel bedrijven, waaronder ASML, zullen samenwerken binnen dit initiatief". Het chipbedrijf zegt verder dat het zich inzet "voor een inclusieve werkomgeving waarin iedereen zich gewaardeerd en gerespecteerd voelt, volledig kan bijdragen en vrij is om zijn of haar mening te uiten".
