Adani Defence & Aerospace on Sunday laid the foundation stone for what it described as South Asia's largest private-sector missile ecosystem at Shivpuri in Madhya Pradesh, marking a major expansion of the conglomerate's defence manufacturing ambitions under the Centre's Aatmanirbhar Bharat programme. The foundation stone for the facility was laid in the presence of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, state Energy Minister Pradyumna Singh Tomar and senior government officials. Also Read: Adani plans Rs 1.8 lakh crore defence spend to boost indigenous military capabilitiesThe company said the integrated facility will bring the entire missile manufacturing value chain—from raw materials to mission-ready missile systems—under one roof, a first for India's private sector.Speaking at the ceremony, Adani Enterprises Director Jeet Adani said, "We have gathered here today for a landmark occasion – laying the foundation of South Asia's largest private-sector missile ecosystem.""This facility will bring raw materials and mission-ready missiles under one roof — a historic first outside the public sector," he said. The Shivpuri complex will manufacture medium- and long-range missile systems and include facilities for composite propellant manufacturing as well as TNT and explosive-grade material production, strengthening India's indigenous defence production capabilities.Jeet Adani said the company would invest Rs 2,500 crore in the project over the next three years."Over the next three years, we will build this state-of-the-art facility with an investment of Rs 2,500 crore, creating 5,000 direct and indirect jobs and drawing over 50 MSMEs into a highly specialized supply chain," he said.According to the company, the upcoming facility will complement its existing defence manufacturing operations in Gwalior, where it produces light machine guns, assault rifles and carbines. Also Read: Adani Defence boosts pilot training capacity with Rs 820 crore buyout of FSTCHighlighting the progress of those operations, Jeet Adani said, "Our Light Machine Guns (LMG) programme alone has already delivered 2,000 units to the Armed Forces — 11 months ahead of schedule!"He added that together, the Gwalior and Shivpuri facilities would form a major defence manufacturing cluster in the state."Together, Gwalior and Shivpuri will stand as twin engines of defence innovation in Madhya Pradesh.

They will ensure that the advanced systems protecting our skies are proudly built by Indian hands, on Indian soil," he said. The project is part of the Adani Group's broader investment plans in Madhya Pradesh.

At the Global Investors Summit in Bhopal last year, Chairman Gautam Adani announced investments of Rs 1.10 lakh crore across hydro pumped storage, cement, mining, smart meters and thermal power projects in the state, with a target of creating 1.2 lakh jobs by 2030.Jeet Adani said the group had already invested over Rs 4,000 crore in its Ametha and Kymor cement plants in Katni district, while Adani Power currently supplies 1,200 MW of electricity to Madhya Pradesh, with another 5,600 MW under development.

He also highlighted ongoing wind energy projects in Dhar, Ratlam and Ujjain, besides a proposed cement plant in Ujjain and the recently launched Rs 1,060-crore cement project at Guna.Calling the investments a commitment to the state's long-term development, he said, "These investments are not merely in plants and factories but in the people and the future of Madhya Pradesh."Referring to the Centre's push for defence self-reliance, Jeet Adani said the company was working closely with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the armed forces to reduce India's dependence on imported defence equipment."Shivpuri is the next giant leap in that journey as we bring a full-range, integrated missile ecosystem to manufacture medium to long-range missile systems, replacing foreign dependency with domestic power," he said. ...
