Neste semestre, formandos chegaram a vaiar referências à IA durante discursos de formatura. Mas o levantamento ressalta que a piora no mercado de trabalho para jovens graduados começou antes da popularização de ferramentas de inteligência artificial como o ChatGPT. E, ao analisar o grau de exposição das diferentes profissões à IA, os pesquisadores concluíram que a tecnologia teve pouco impacto sobre o desemprego juvenil. A taxa de desemprego entre graduados universitários com menos de 29 anos subiu 20% em relação ao período pré-pandemia, chegando a uma média de 3,7% entre 2022 e 2025, segundo o Fed de Nova York. Entre graduados de 22 a 27 anos, o desemprego alcançou 5,8% no ano passado — o maior nível fora do período da pandemia desde 2012. As conclusões do estudo reforçam o cenário atual do mercado de trabalho, marcado por poucas contratações e poucas demissões: embora as dispensas permaneçam baixas e o desemprego relativamente estável, quem perde o emprego tem encontrado mais dificuldade para conseguir uma nova vaga. O estudo também analisou dados detalhados de uma empresa de tecnologia da Fortune 500, não identificada, e constatou que seus padrões de contratação refletiam a tendência observada nos dados gerais. Quando os escritórios estavam fechados e os funcionários trabalhavam remotamente, “a empresa contratava menos trabalhadores inexperientes e mais profissionais experientes, que provavelmente precisavam de menos orientação para desempenhar bem suas funções”, afirma o estudo. “Assim que os escritórios reabriram, a empresa voltou a contratar mais jovens trabalhadores”, diz a pesquisa.
