TRA opens new investigation into LLD polyethylene from the USA
The TRA has opened an anti-dumping investigation into imports of Linear Low-Density Polyethylene from the USA.
The Trade Remedies Authority has opened a new investigation into imports of Linear Low-Density (LLD) polyethylene from the USA.
LLD polyethylene is a widely used form of polyethylene within the petrochemical industry. It is used in packaging and other industrial uses where safety, flexibility and durability matter. In the healthcare industry it is commonly used to create a range of products including medical packaging and tubing as well as being used for multiple sterile applications.
It underpins supply chains in healthcare, packaging, and manufacturing.
This investigation is being initiated in response to an application from INEOS Olefins & Polymers whose production is based in Grangemouth in Scotland. The TRA will investigate whether imports of LLD polyethylene are being dumped in the UK and are causing injury to INEOS Olefins & Polymers’ business, representing the entirety of this UK industry.
Businesses that could be affected by this investigation, including importers and downstream users of this type of product, can register their interest through our public file by 16 July 2026.
