Statement by Palazzo Chigi on the 50th anniversary of the assassination of Judge Vittorio Occorsio

The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, attended the Holy Mass held in the Aula Magna at the Supreme Court of Cassation in Rome this morning to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the assassination of Judge Vittorio Occorsio.
“Vittorio Occorsio did not see himself as a hero, despite conducting important investigations in defence of the Republic and its institutions. He was an exemplary prosecutor who carried out his work with rigour, impartiality and objectivity. This is why he was murdered in an ambush claimed by ‘Ordine Nuovo’. His killers wanted to strike what Judge Occorsio represented: the State, the law and the judicial branch, whose only guiding principle is the one laid down in the Constitution. Today, we honour the memory of Judge Occorsio, so that his example may be a source of inspiration for our journey and for those who will come after us,” stated the President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni.
