On the evening of 3 June, Russian users noticed that Max, Russia's state messenger, unexpectedly disappeared from Apple's App Store. The Cupertino-based company told the BBC that the move is linked to sanctions compliance.

Сразу после этого пользователям Apple перестали приходить push-уведомления Пресс-служба Max подтвердила удаление и сообщила, что направила Apple запрос о разъяснении причин, а пользователям посоветовали «время от времени самостоятельно открывать приложение, чтобы не пропустить важные сообщения». На следующий день ситуацию вокруг мессенджера прокомментировал на ПМЭФ и глава Минцифры Максут Шадаев. По его словам, 25–30% пользователей Max используют устройства на платформе iOS. „ «Таким решением компания Apple ограничила сразу доступ более 20 миллионам пользователей iPhone, iPad к сервису национального мессенджера», — заключил он. Его сервис Cloudflare Radar пометил домены Max как «шпионское ПО». Сам мессенджер объяснил это «неверной интерпретацией заголовков запросов к сервисам обычной веб-аналитики». Пометку сняли на следующий день, 1 мая, но затем снова вернули. До этого в марте независимые исследователи обнаружили в приложении модуль, который отслеживает использование VPN: мессенджер делает запросы к внешним сервисам, чтобы определить, обходит ли пользователь блокировки Роскомнадзора. Помимо этого, „ Max не поддерживает сквозное шифрование — весь трафик проходит через серверы провайдера и теоретически доступен спецслужбам по запросу. Установить прямую связь между политической кампанией и решением Apple невозможно: компания не объясняет причины удаления приложений. Сооснователь «Роскомсвободы» и киберадвокат Саркис Дарбинян не смог прямо ответить на вопрос о том, можно ли назвать удаление мессенджера Max из AppStore победой российских правозащитников. Но подчеркнул, что работа с бигтехом ведется постоянно. Например, ранее правозащитники добились удаления мессенджера Telega — неофициального аналога мессенджера Telegram, разработанного бывшими менеджерами холдинга ВК. „ «Это было не политическое решение. Apple удалила Telega потому, что Cloudflare признал приложение “шпионским”. Но это произошло в том числе и после нашего расследования». «Новая-Европа» писала о том, как российские цифровые правозащитники пытаются добиться от западного бигтеха помощи в борьбе с цензурой. До сих пор этот процесс не приносил больших успехов. Apple — одна из международных корпораций, которая последовательно подчиняется требованиям российских властей. Например, еще в 2021 году компания угрожала удалить Telegram из магазина приложений, если создатель Павел Дуров не заблокирует бота «Умного голосования» от команды Алексея Навального. Дарбинян считает, что госмессенджер вполне могут вернуть в App Store — корпорация принимает решения непрозрачно и не навсегда. Например, приложению Telega на настоящий момент удалось избавиться от пометки «шпионской программы». Впрочем, в магазин приложений его пока так и не вернули, убедилась «Новая-Европа». Еще один способ вернуть Max в AppStore — создать аналоги под другим названием. Таким путем обычно идут российские банки, попавшие под санкции. „ «Впрочем, им будет сложно попасть в официальный магазин Apple, — говорит Дарбинян. — Специалисты проверяют код и не допускают “дубликаты”». Киберадвокат также отмечает, что у российских властей много способов оказать политическое давление на Apple. Например, российские власти могут просто заблокировать магазин приложений в России. Или ужесточить ввоз «яблочной» техники через параллельный импорт. Не исключает Дарбинян и действия через суд: российский суд может обязать Apple вернуть мессенджер и назначить нарастающий штраф за каждый день неисполнения — именно так у Google к началу 2025 года накопился долг в 91,5 квинтиллиона рублей. Наконец, Apple могут признать нежелательной или экстремистской организацией по аналогии с Meta, после чего сотрудничество с компанией и даже использование ее сервисов станет основанием для уголовного дела.

• Heavy rain, thunderstorms expected in mountainous catchments • Authorities directed to maintain round-the-clock vigilance RAWALPINDI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Tuesday issued a glacial lake outburst floods (Glof) alert, asking disaster management authorities to ensure round-the-clock vigil and take necessary measures to avoid any untoward situation. According to the weather advisory, a moderate westerly wave has entered the country’s upper regions and is currently affecting parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan. Intermittent rain-wind/thunderstorms with isolated heavy falls are likely to occur over vulnerable mountainous catchments during the ongoing weather spell. The Met Office said the prevailing meteorological conditions significantly enhance the risk of Glofs, debris flows and flash flooding in vulnerable areas, particularly in Swat, Chitral, Dir, Ghizer, Hunza, Nagar, Diamer, Ghanche, Shigar and Astore. The monitoring cell is observing precipitation in gauged areas, especially in the valleys of Parishing, Sost, Reshun Booni, Arkari, Matiltan, Mankeyal, Hisper-Hopper, Strangbut, Arandu and Ghulkin. Residents in glaciated valleys and vulnerable areas have been advised to observe safety measures, including avoiding proximity to riverbanks and stream beds during rainfall, monitoring local nullahs for sudden changes in water colour (muddiness) or unusual sounds such as grinding rocks, and securing livestock and essentials on higher and safer ground. The PMD also asked authorities to coordinate closely with community-based disaster risk management committees and urged disaster management authorities to ensure 24/7 alertness and take necessary measures to avoid any untoward situation. Authorities were further advised to maintain active communication links with technical focal persons in remote valleys and disseminate the alert through SMS and social media. Video shows an incident at a store in the Iranian city of Shandiz where a man approached two unveiled women before proceeding to grab a tub of yogurt from the store and throw it, hitting both women in the head. The video then appears to show a male staff member removing the suspect from the store. CNN is not able to verify what was said immediately before the confrontation.
