A worsening air leak aboard the International Space Station (ISS) prompted five astronauts to take shelter and prepare for evacuation for roughly two hours on Friday as Russia attempted to fix a crack on its portion of the orbital laboratory, Nasa said. The four astronauts of Nasa’s Crew-12 mission aboard the station two Americans, a French astronaut and a Russian cosmonaut along with another US astronaut were ordered by Nasa mission control at 9:04am ET (1304 GMT) on Friday to enter their SpaceX-built Crew Dragon spacecraft docked to the station, Nasa spokesperson Bethany Stevens said. Nasa reversed that order roughly two hours later and told the astronauts they could return to the station as the agency and its Russian counterparts examined the rate of leaking air. Nasa and Russia’s space agency Roscosmos, the station’s two primary operators, have debated for months over the cause and potential fixes of small air leaks aboard Russia’s Zvezda service module, a key structure of the ISS, a football field-size orbital laboratory where astronauts live and work in space. Roscosmos said on Friday that its experts had detected two leaks aboard the ISS but that there was no immediate threat to the crew. The first leak was quickly sealed, and preparations were underway to seal the second one, Roscosmos said, adding that there was no threat to the spacecraft’s systems. The air leaks have been relatively minor in recent months but escalated on Friday from a pound of air per day to two pounds, according to a senior Nasa official who asked not to be named. The ISS is currently home to seven astronauts from two missions, including the Crew-12 team Nasa astronauts Jessica Meir and Jack Hathaway, European Space Agency astronaut Sophie Adenot, and Roscosmos cosmonaut Andrey Fedyaev who arrived in February. The other crew of one US astronaut, Christopher Williams, and two cosmonauts, Sergey Kud-Sverchkov and Sergei Mikayev, arrived in November. Kud-Sverchkov and Mikayev, who did not execute evacuation procedures, were planning to use a saw to break into an area where they believe they can access the crack leaking air, the Nasa official said. Nasa officials disagreed with this method, the Nasa official said, prompting mission control in Houston to order safe-haven procedures. Stevens said Nasa reversed the safe-haven order and told astronauts they could return the space station once Roscosmos paused its efforts to repair the crack. “We look forward to working with Roscosmos on a collaborative approach to address the leaks,” she said. Safe-haven orders are rare on the ISS, though pieces of space debris that risk colliding with the ISS and smaller changes in air leak rates have triggered the process in recent years. Astronauts have never had to evacuate the ISS in its 27-year history.

Сатрапи обожала комиксы в детстве, хотя уже тогда задумывалась о том, что в большинстве из них нет интересных женских персонажей. Она родилась в 1969 году, выросла в Тегеране, училась во французском лицее. Когда произошла Исламская революция, ей было 10 лет. Но раньше, семилетней, вместе с пятилетней двоюродной сестрой они прочли в американском комиксе «Дракула» (точнее, Маржан так вольно перевела), что Дракулой можно стать, если поесть сырой курицы. Девочки тайно ели сырую курицу три месяца, после чего у них завелись глисты, и Сатрапи решила больше не читать комиксы. Вновь она взялась за них уже в Париже (в 1983 она уехала учиться в Вену, а через какое-то время эмигрировала во Францию, в 2006 году приняла французское гражданство), когда друг подарил ей «Мауса» — и это была лучшая история о Холокосте из всех, что она читала. После двух частей «Персеполиса» — «Истории детства» и «Истории возвращения» — Сатрапи написала еще два рисованных романа на иранском материале: «Вышивки» и «Цыпленок с черносливом». Последний, о жизни и смерти своего двоюродного дедушки, она позже экранизировала, и в 2011 вышел фильм с Матьё Амальриком в главной роли. Het prestigieuze Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. heeft personeel opgedragen per direct de naam van Donald Trump uit hun digitale handtekening te verwijderen. Ook kreeg het personeel de opdracht om voor 12 juni de naam van Trump uit brochures en van de gevel van het culturele centrum te verwijderen. Dat blijkt uit een memo aan het personeel die The Washington Post inzag. Het is volgens de krant de eerste indicatie dat het bestuur van het centrum gehoor geeft aan de uitspraak van een rechter van het District of Columbia, waar Washington D.C. onder valt. De rechter had het centrum opgedragen om voor 12 juni alle referenties aan het "Trump Kennedy Center" te verwijderen. Rechter Christopher Cooper had in zijn uitspraak van vorige week onder meer gesteld dat de statuten van het centrum "het glashelder maken dat het centrum naar president Kennedy vernoemd is, en dat het geen andere formele naam mag dragen op basis van een eenzijdig besluit van het bestuur". Bondgenoten Trump verving in februari van vorig jaar veel van de leden van de raad van toezicht van het cultureel centrum door politieke bondgenoten, omdat het centrum in zijn ogen "te woke" was. Vorig jaar stemde die nieuwe raad van toezicht voor naamsverandering van het centrum. Sinds 1971 was de officiële naam 'The John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts'. Op de gevel van het gebouw werden in december vorig jaar de letters 'The Donald J. Trump and' geplaatst, boven het oorspronkelijke logo. De rechter bepaalde niet alleen dat de naam van Trump moest worden verwijderd, maar ook dat het centrum niet dicht mag voor een ingrijpende renovatie. In maart bepaalde de raad dat het centrum de komende twee jaar gerenoveerd moet worden en daarom zou sluiten. Volgens Amerikaanse media was dat een nieuwe poging van Trump om zijn stempel te drukken op het Kennedy Center. Volgens hem moesten er noodzakelijke reparaties worden uitgevoerd. "We gaan ervoor zorgen dat het de beste podiumkunstenfaciliteit in zijn soort ter wereld blijft", zei de president. Als reactie op de uitspraak stelde Trump dat de samenwerking met het centrum weer over wordt gedragen aan het Congres "gezien het feit dat de radicaal-linkse Democraten liever mij dwarszitten, dan dat ze een noodlijdend cultureel centrum willen redden".
