President Meloni’s video message for 80th anniversary of ANCE

Dear President Brancaccio, dear friends at ANCE: congratulations on your first eighty years!

Over the last eighty years, you have accompanied Italy through profound transformations, and you have done so with your hallmark character: an industrious force representing a pillar of the national economy. The building and construction industries generate 12% of our GDP and are one of our main drivers of growth.

Over these years, your contribution has played a vital role in revitalising development, accelerating infrastructure projects, and supporting employment, as well as ensuring Italy succeeded in rolling out its NRRP [National Recovery and Resilience Plan], where our commitment has been important and yours has been crucial in meeting the last deadlines. You have been a key partner for the innovation and growth of SMEs, thanks also to the Digital Innovation Hub promoted with the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy and dedicated to the construction sector.

You have always been an irreplaceable ally in regenerating our cities. In this regard, our ‘Piano Casa’ housing plan provides us with a new tool, not only to provide a fairly priced home to those who don’t have one, but also to make our communities more liveable and people-friendly.

Over these last years, there has always been dialogue between us. We may not always have been in agreement, but that dialogue has given rise to solutions that are beneficial to citizens. We intend to continue with this method, as there is still a lot to do to address issues that are critical for your sector as well as for others, such as access to credit, simplification, workplace health and safety, and competitiveness. 

Over the last 80 years, you have ‘built’ and ‘rebuilt’ Italy, through the most prosperous times and through the most complicated. You have never given up and have always picked yourselves up again, with drive and determination. Now is the time to do precisely that. Now is the time to run, to dare, to relaunch, showing the world just what Italy is capable of.
