Sixth Mattei Plan Steering Committee meeting held at Palazzo Chigi

The sixth meeting of the Mattei Plan for Africa Steering Committee was held at Palazzo Chigi today, chaired by the Vice-President of the Council of Ministers, Antonio Tajani.

The meeting was attended by: the members of the Government forming part of the steering committee; the Chair of the Foreign Affairs and Defence Committee of the Senate and representatives from the Foreign and European Affairs Committee of the Chamber of Deputies; the Conference of Regions and Autonomous Provinces; ANCI [National Association of Italian Municipalities]; and a wide range of representatives from the ‘Sistema Italia’, public bodies and state-owned enterprises, universities and research institutions, the third sector, development cooperation organisations and trade associations as well as representatives of the African diaspora.

During the meeting, the draft of the third annual progress report for the Mattei Plan for Africa was presented, to then be submitted to Parliament. The report provides details of the main activities carried out from June 2025 to June 2026.
