Non-executive director reappointment at GAD
The Government Actuary’s Department (GAD) announces the reappointment of Liz Thornhill as non-executive director.
Liz is a practising barrister with a background in public law, regulation, governance and risk. She serves as General Counsel, Head of Risk and Legal Advisor to the Board at the Office of Rail and Road. Liz held roles at the Department for Transport, and served as a member of the Standards Committee at the Royal Institute of British Architects.
Commenting on the reappointment Fiona Dunsire, Government Actuary, said:
“I am delighted that Liz will continue her role as non-executive director and chair of the Audit and Risk Committee. Her legal and risk experience has helped enhance and strengthen our control framework, whilst providing insight and complementary skills to the Board.”
Liz also commented and said:
“I am proud to be reappointed and have the opportunity to continue to support GAD deliver on its strategy providing exceptional, cost effective analysis and advice that enhances policy making across the public sector.”
Notes:
Liz will continue to support GAD’s Management Board as a Non-Executive Director and chair of the Audit and Risk Committee, for a further three years, ending in November 2029.
This reappointment has been made in accordance with the process and principles outlined in the Governance Code on Public Appointments. All appointments to the GAD are made on merit.
She confirmed that she has not undertaken any political activity within the previous five years.
