President Meloni meets with the President of the Government of Spain, Pedro Sánchez

Following the informal meeting of the ‘Friends of Cohesion Policy’ states, the President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, met with the President of the Government of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, at the Italian Delegation’s offices in the Europa building.

The two leaders agreed it was opportune for Italy and Spain to have a common line on the European Union’s next budget, with the goal of introducing funding for new strategic priorities – competitiveness, innovation, security, strategic autonomy, and energy – without reducing funding for Cohesion Policy, which is considered essential for the Single Market, investments, and the narrowing of regional disparities.
