80th anniversary of the Vespa: President Meloni receives the Executive Chairman and CEO of Piaggio Group

After attending the ceremony at the Chamber of Deputies to mark the anniversary of the first session of the Constituent Assembly, and before travelling to Antibes for the 36th Italy-France Intergovernmental Summit, the President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, received Piaggio Group’s Executive Chairman, Matteo Colaninno, and Chief Executive Officer, Michele Colaninno, at Palazzo Chigi this morning, on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Vespa patent and production launch.

Three historic models dating back to 1949, 1964 and 1976 were displayed in Palazzo Chigi’s Galleon Room, together with more modern vehicles. The models, in different colours, were arranged to represent the Italian flag.

“The Vespa is not only an example of industrial excellence but is also one of the world’s most beloved Italian icons and a symbol of Italian creativity and style. Celebrating its 80th anniversary means paying tribute to one of the most captivating ‘Made in Italy’ success stories: a brand that has contributed to developing Italy’s global standing and continues to fuel our nation’s soft power on the international stage”, stated the President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni.
