Protecting the EU’s eastern borders
Wrapping up Tuesday’s debate, MEPS will vote at noon on a resolution on EU sovereignty and security. This comes in response to a growing number of security threats and drone incursions attributed to Russia and affecting various EU countries, including the Baltic States, Finland and Romania.

Vote on new EU rules for a more sustainable automotive sector
New EU circularity rules covering the entire vehicle lifecycle, from design to final end-of-life treatment, are the subject of a debate from 9.00 with Commissioner Valdis Dombrovskis. The new law is designed to boost automotive sector’s transition to a more circular model, improving recycling rates and residue management. MEPs will hold their final vote on the new law at noon.

Charting a vision for culture
At 10.30, Commissioner Glen Micallef will present "Europe for Culture – Culture for Europe”, a joint Parliament, Council and Commission political declaration reaffirming key principles for cultural policy as a cross-cutting strategic priority. The declaration is one of a number of policy tools designed to steer implementation of the “Culture Compass” – an initiative offering a new vision for the EU’s cultural and creative sectors.

In brief
Recruitment of children to organised crime. MEPs will vote at noon on a resolution concluding the debate that took place during the May plenary session.
Cuba. Following their debate with EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas at the last plenary session, MEPs will vote at noon on a resolution on the humanitarian crisis in Cuba, political repression in the country, and the EU’s role in the island’s future.
Urban wastewater treatment. A resolution expected to highlight the impact of EU urban wastewater treatment rules on the pharmaceutical sector will be put to the vote at noon.
Votes
At noon, MEPs will also vote on:
- motions for resolutions on political prisoners in Nicaragua; the deteriorating situation of political prisoners in Belarus; and the continued crackdown on civic space and fundamental freedoms in Burkina Faso;
- an objection regarding the financing of the annual action plan in favour of the United Republic of Tanzania for 2026.
