Swedish state compensates doctors acquitted of da Costa murder

Sweden's government has approved ex gratia payments of SEK 2 million to two doctors acquitted of the 1984 murder of 27-year-old Catrine da Costa.

The murder has never been solved. The two doctors were charged with killing da Costa but were found not guilty in 1988 — however the court said in its judgement that they had dismembered her body, a crime they couldn't be prosecuted for as the statute of limitations had already passed.
