“The university’s success is built upon a solid foundation: attracting premier global talent, fostering an environment where scholars can thrive, and driving original research with real-world impact,” he said in a statement.
The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) rose to 18th from 32nd, breaking into the top 20 for the first time.
Head of CUHK Dennis Lo said entering the top 20 is an important milestone for the university.
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology was ranked 33rd while the Hong Kong Polytechnic University came in at 50th.
Another local institution, the City University of Hong Kong, was ranked 52nd.
Massachusetts Institute of Technology continued to top the global list, with Imperial College London and Stanford University tied for second place.
