Child sexual abuse online: voluntary detection measures
MEPs vote at noon on whether to restore a temporary derogation from ePrivacy rules to allow service providers to voluntarily scan for child sexual abuse in private communications. The derogation, previously in place as a stopgap measure to prevent a legal vacuum while talks on a permanent regime to combat child sexual abuse online are ongoing, expired in April.

Digital euro
Also at noon, plenary will decide whether to open negotiations with the Council on two single currency package files: on the provision of digital euro services by payment services providers incorporated in member states whose currency is not the euro, and on the establishment of the digital euro.

Future of EU fisheries policy
From 9.00, MEPs will quiz Costas Kadis, Commissioner for Fisheries and Oceans, on the outlook for the EU’s common fisheries policy and the measures needed to support the sector. They are set to call for measures to modernise Europe’s fishing fleet, cut red tape, attract new generations to the sector, and support small-scale fisheries. They will vote on a resolution during the September plenary session.

In brief
Humanitarian aid. In a debate starting at 8.00 with Commissioner Hadja Lahbib, MEPs are set to call for a major increase in funding for humanitarian aid amid a serious financial crisis in the sector. They will vote on a resolution at noon.
Wool matters. Rounding off the session, from 15.00, MEPs will quiz Commissioner Dubravka Šuica on why wool is treated more as a waste product than as a valuable resource, and whether the Commission intends to update the rules on agricultural by-products.
Votes
At noon, MEPs will also vote on:
- whether the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy should enter into interinstitutional negotiations on amendments to the Critical Raw Materials Act;
- motions for resolutions on the human rights situation in E-Obeid, Sudan, the persecution of Christians in Nigeria, and the abduction, forced conversion and child marriage of Maria Shahbaz in Pakistan.
