Country: Pakistan Source: World Food Programme Please refer to the attached file. โข For the week ending 21 May national average prices of staple foods edged up slightly since 26 February when the crisis in the middle east began. โข Compared to the week of May 14, wheat flour prices are 2 percent higher, mainly driven by higher transportation costs and some supply disruptions due to moving large quantities of wheat across provinces. โข The cost of a basic food basket is PKR 15,758 per month (USD 57) or PKR 3,939 per week (USD 14) nationwide, excluding lower cost items such as vegetables or spices. โข Fuel prices decreased week-on-week, with petrol and diesel (HSD) both down by 1.2 percent. However, compared to pre-crisis levels, petrol and HSD prices are higher by 59 percent and 48 percent, respectively.
