EU begins formal process to open accession negotiation cluster for Ukraine
The Council of the European Union has officially launched the process of formally opening Cluster 1, "Fundamentals," in accession negotiations with Ukraine and Moldova.

The Council of the European Union has officially launched the process of formally opening Cluster 1, "Fundamentals," in accession negotiations with Ukraine and Moldova.
The Council of the EU working group on enlargement held an extraordinary meeting in Brussels on 4 June to prepare draft EU common positions on Cluster 1, Fundamentals, for Ukraine and Moldova so they would be ready for approval by EU ambassadors on 5 June or next week.
Two separate intergovernmental conferences will be held in Luxembourg on 15 June to open the first EU accession negotiating cluster, Fundamentals, for Ukraine and Moldova.
The issue of starting preparations for the official opening of the first EU negotiating cluster (Fundamentals) for Ukraine and Moldova has been urgently added to the agenda of a meeting of the Committee of Permanent Representatives (Coreper) on the evening of 3 June.
Hungarian Prime Minister Pรฉter Magyar has said he is ready to meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy early next week if an agreement can be reached on the issue of the Hungarian minority's fundamental rights.
