On the opening day of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, Ukrainian drones struck northwestern Russia, with air defenses downing nearly 60 in the Leningrad region. According to the cityโs governor, Alexander Beglov, infrastructure sites in Kronstadt and the Kirovsky and Krasnoselsky districts were hit, leaving several people injured. Local media reported damage to a residential building on the Gulf of Finland, while a fire broke out at the St. Petersburg Oil Terminal, sending plumes of smoke over the city โ even as guests continued arriving for the forum.
