IndiGo has announced the temporary suspension of flights to six international destinations as it adjusts its network amid softer travel demand and rising operational costs. The airline said the move is part of a broader network optimisation strategy aimed at matching capacity with current market conditions while maintaining operational efficiency.Which International Routes Has IndiGo Suspended?According to the airline, services to the following destinations will be temporarily suspended:Hong KongShanghaiHo Chi Minh CityLangkawiKrabiSiem ReapFlights to Hong Kong, Shanghai, Ho Chi Minh City, Langkawi and Krabi will be suspended from July 1, while services to Siem Reap will be paused from July 3.Read more: HSBC says Asia's largest slum could soon have metro stations, green spaces & 125,000 new homesThe suspension is expected to remain in place until September 30.Why Has IndiGo Suspended These Flights?IndiGo said the decision was driven by a combination of softer seasonal demand and a challenging operating environment. The airline noted that the upcoming quarter typically witnesses lower travel demand, especially on certain international routes. At the same time, airlines continue to face increased operational expenses, making it necessary to review network deployment. In a statement, IndiGo said: "These measured changes are designed to align capacity with current market conditions and demand trends, while ensuring the airline maintains reliability and network integrity across its global destinations."Will IndiGo Restart These Routes?Yes. The airline has confirmed that bookings for all affected routes will reopen from October 1, subject to an improvement in market conditions.IndiGo also stated that it remains prepared to restore services earlier if demand improves and operational conditions become more favourable.Airspace Restrictions Continue To Affect AirlinesApart from rising costs, airlines are also dealing with continuing airspace restrictions that have impacted flight operations and route planning.Several carriers globally have been forced to adjust schedules, reroute aircraft and review international networks due to changing geopolitical and operational challenges.IndiGo said it will continue monitoring the situation closely before making further decisions regarding these routes.IndiGo Retains More Than 1,800 Weekly International FlightsDespite the temporary suspension of six destinations, IndiGo said its international network remains largely intact. The airline continues to operate more than 1,800 international flights every week across its global network. This allows the carrier to maintain strong international connectivity while adjusting capacity where demand is currently weaker. What Does This Mean For Travellers?Passengers planning trips to the affected destinations between July and September may need to consider alternative airlines or adjust their travel plans. However, travellers heading to other international destinations served by IndiGo are unlikely to see any major disruption, as the airline has retained the majority of its overseas operations. The move highlights how airlines are increasingly balancing demand, operating costs and network efficiency as global travel patterns continue to evolve.IndiGo Focuses On Network OptimisationThe temporary suspension reflects a broader trend in the aviation industry, where airlines are becoming more flexible in managing capacity.Rather than operating flights with lower demand, carriers are increasingly redeploying aircraft to stronger-performing routes and adjusting schedules based on market conditions. For IndiGo, the strategy is aimed at protecting profitability while ensuring reliable operations across its growing domestic and international network.Inputs from PTI
Chennai: VCK chief Thol Thirumavalavan on Tuesday announced that he will not contest in the Tiruchirappalli East Assembly constituency vacated by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay, as he has no desire to become a minister in the TVK cabinet. He would not contest in any by-elections and would not be influenced by anyone, the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi founder said following speculation that the TVK's ally leader will make it to the Assembly from Tiruchirappalli East seat that was won by Vijay in the April 23 Assembly polls. Following his victory from two constituencies, Vijay vacated Tiruchirappalli East and retained Perambur constituency in Chennai."I am saying this 100 per cent that I will not contest in any by-elections nor will I be influenced by anyone," Thirumavalavan said in a video message and revealed that he was offered a chance to contest from the constituency, which was vacated by Vijay, as per ECI norms, with the promise of a ministerial berth upon his victory. Also Read: Congress seeks Rajya Sabha seat from ally Vijay's TVK"I have denied it from my side and I thank Chief Minister Vijay for the offer," he said.Thirumavalavan's VCK, along with the Left parties and IUML, had extended support to the Vijay-led TVK in forming the government while the Congress had joined Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam in a post-poll pact. Apart from the Congress, both VCK and IUML legislators have been accommodated in the newly formed government.Explaining that his support to the TVK was extended only after consulting DMK president M K Stalin, he stressed that the support was mainly to prevent the implementation of the President's rule in Tamil Nadu."I have been a harshest critic of Vijay before the election and even accused him of attempting to divide the minority votes and hindering the progress of Secular Progress Alliance," the VCK chief said and rejected the TVK offer, stating that he was not power hungry and has always been committed to safeguarding the DMK-led alliance. Also, he stated that he need not become an MLA to get a role in the Cabinet. He has already communicated his decision to the TVK chief and said he earlier withdrew from the race when he was asked to contest from Kattumannarkoil in April this year in order to preserve the DMK-led combine's unity.Putting to rest speculation about his poll contest, Thirumavalavan said he was committed to the people, social justice and ideological integrity and appealed to his cadres and public not to pay attention to any rumours on contesting byelections.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has flagged data integrity, manufacturing and maintenance lapses at one of Dabur India's plants following an inspection earlier this year, according to an inspection report. Dabur is one of India's oldest and largest consumer goods companies, describing itself as one of the world's largest suppliers of Ayurvedic products with a legacy of โover 140 โ years. It โ sells a range of over-the-counter and consumer health products in the United States, including cough and cold rubs, antifungal creams, pain relief gels and oral care products. The findings, issued after the FDA inspected the company's factory in the country's western region of Dadra and Nagar Haveli in January, said some units in the facility posed risks of microbiological contamination. The report also said critical manufacturing records were falsified โ to conceal โthat equipment meant to make certain products had been used for multiple other products. A live bird and bird droppings were found in โ the raw material warehouse, about 30 feet from packaging materials. An apparent unidentified black substance was also seen covering more than 25% of ceiling surfaces in both the raw material warehouse and the finished drug product storage warehouse, according to the report, which was made public earlier this week. The findings come amid heightened regulatory scrutiny of Indian drugmakers over quality controls for medicines and health products exported to the United States, their โlargest overseas market. The FDA inspector also questioned the reliability of testing at the plant, noting that although microbiology test results were reported as within limits, significant contamination was observed โ in multiple samples during the inspection. Dabur did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment. Following a form 483, which is issued after a U.S. FDA inspection, companies usually respond to the regulator with corrective steps taken to address the concerns. The report also said management had not reviewed drug production and quality records to determine compliance with regulatory requirements before batches were released to the market, and cited deficiencies in equipment cleaning and maintenance procedures.
