Fourth S-400 squadron arrives in India

New Delhi [India]: In a major boost to strengthen the long-range air defence capabilities of the country, the fourth squadron of the S-400 Sudarshan air defence systems reached India from Russia a few days ago.The S-400 Sudarshan long-range air defence system from Russia reached India on a ship and will be deployed in the operational area very soon, defence sources told ANI.The S-400 air defence system is part of a 2018 contract under which India was to acquire five S-400 squadrons from Russia, three of which arrived two years ago and the remaining two were delayed due to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war.Also Read: India set for $2-billion drone order in biggest buy, industry body saysThe Sudarshan played a huge role in thwarting the Pakistan Air Force's capabilities during Operation Sindoor, where it secured the longest recorded surface-to-air kill by bringing down a high-value Pakistan Air Force surveillance aircraft flying at over 300 km.The fifth squadron of the S-400 air defence mission system is expected to reach India in the next few months.The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) has already cleared the acquisition of five more squadrons of the S-400s.India is also working on an indigenous programme, codenamed Project Kusha, to develop its own air defence systems capable of shooting down enemy drones at similar ranges as the Russian system.Also Read: Tata chairman reviews defence manufacturing push at Bengaluru facilitiesIndian defence major Solar Industries has been involved in the project as a development cum production partner.

We have over 15 outlets across key malls in India, and the mall business is higher than last year. Categories such as F&B, beauty and fashion are doing well,” she added.The average time a family spends at the mall has increased since the start of summer vacations, said Ravinder Choudhary, vice president of Vegas & Unity Group that operates half a dozen malls in Delhi and Punjab.“We have also created activity zones in the malls that we operate. That crowd then spends time shopping and eating out as well. During periods of intense heat, air-conditioned malls gain a natural advantage as they offer a complete ecosystem of shopping, dining and entertainment in a comfortable environment,” said Shriram PM Monga, co-founder, SRED, a retail advisory firm.Monga said that it was not merely a seasonal spike in footfalls but a shift in ‘dwell-time economics.’“Based on what we are observing across our portfolio, mall footfalls increase by 15–25% during peak holiday and high-temperature periods, resulting in stronger sales for F&B and lifestyle brands,” he said. “As Indian cities continue to urbanise and temperatures grow more extreme, well-planned retail destinations are poised for sustained demand. The consumption story inside organised retail is only getting stronger."

Chandigarh: The Terminal Ballistics Research Laboratory (TBRL) will conduct a high-calibre bomb trial at its Ramgarh test range in Haryana's Panchkula district on Sunday, officials said.The trial is scheduled to take place between 10.30 am and 12.30 pm.In view of the exercise, residents of Bhanu and Billa villages in Panchkula district have been advised to remain indoors during the specified period.According to officials, bomb fragments may rise to an altitude of around 1.5 km and spread within a horizontal radius of up to 2 km from the point of detonation. A safety zone extending 2 km from the blast site is required for the safe conduct of the trial.As Bhanu and Billa villages fall within the splinter danger zone, the Panchkula district administration has asked residents to stay indoors during the trial period.
