As the 2026 FIFA World Cup is set to kick off across the North American continent, hosted by the US, Canada and Mexico, Oliver Farry is pleased to welcome Thando Sibiya, Sports Presenter and Journalist. While the tournament was initially met with great fanfare: an expanded 48-country tournament hosted by three countries, Sibiya warns that the "deplorable issues" and multiple controversies risk "killing the ambiance" and keeping football fans and country supporters away. From exorbitant ticket prices to Donald Trump's hard-line immigration policies, many fans will now be forced to follow their team from their home country. This could very well be 'one of the least anticipated World Cups of this era', laments Sibiya.
Oliver Farry is pleased to welcome Gareth Redmond-King, Head of the International Programme at the Energy & Climate Intelligence Unit. As the World Meteorological Organization warns of a powerful El Niรฑo event and its potentially far-reaching consequences, Redmond-King warns that El Niรฑo should not be viewed as an isolated threat, but rather as an accelerant acting upon an already destabilised climate system. El Niรฑo is "pouring fuel on that particular fire" of climate change. He describes the phenomenon as "turbocharging climate change" by adding heat to a planet that has already warmed by approximately 1.4ยฐC. "It's like we're in a very, very hot room and somebody decides to turn on the heating and light the fire," he observes, illustrating how natural climate cycles become more dangerous in an artificially warmed world.
Now that France has finally repealed the so-called Code Noir or Black Code, experts are urging the country to also consider the issue of reparations. The Code Noir was the law that effectively regulated slavery by making people like property, notably in the French colonies โ enabling people to be worked, beaten, sold, raped and even killed. It was only repealed last week, even though France abolished slavery back in 1848. In Perspective, we spoke to Olivette Otele, a historian and professor at SOAS in London.
Oliver Farry is pleased to welcome Dr. Thomas Pudlarz, Medical Oncologist and Head of the pancreatic care pathway within the 'Interception' program at the Gustave-Roussy Institute. For decades, pancreatic cancer has remained one of oncology's most formidable challenges. Despite major advances in immunotherapy and precision medicine, treatment for pancreatic cancer remains elusive. The emergence of an experimental targeted therapy is "one of the first improvements in many years" for a disease that remains among the most aggressive and deadliest forms of cancer, explains Dr. Pudlarz.

Oliver Farry is pleased to welcome Michelle MORGAN, Marilyn Monroe biographer. Author of The Seven Year Itch, and the Birth of an Unlikely Feminist. One hundred years after the birth of Marilyn Monroe, the actress remains one of the most recognisable cultural figures of the twentieth century. Yet, as biographer Michelle Morgan argues in this centenary interview, the enduring fascination with Monroe often obscures the complexity of the woman behind the image. Far from being merely the glamorous "dumb blonde" immortalised by popular culture, Monroe emerges as a determined, intellectually curious, and surprisingly modern figure who challenged the limitations imposed upon her by Hollywood and society alike.
VIDรO - Dans une vidรฉo largement relayรฉe sur les rรฉseaux sociaux, lโancien maire de Poissy est aperรงu grimpant sur une voiture, sous les acclamations de nombreux supporters.
