FRANCE 24 journalists forced to sign NDA after asking about open letter against media mogul Bolloré

Two FRANCE 24 journalists were forced to sign a non-disclosure agreement after asking an actor about an open letter protesting the growing role of far-right billionaire Vincent Bolloré in French cinema. Signed by hundreds of industry professionals, the letter prompted the head of the Canal+ Group – France’s largest film financier – to announce it would no longer work with the signatories.

Ukraine under heavy drone attack as Zelensky seeks direct meeting with Putin

Russia fired hundreds of drones at Ukraine between late Thursday and early Friday, killing seven people and destroying a factory that produces milk products for children, authorities said. Moscow and Kyiv have intensified drone strikes on each other in recent months as US-led diplomatic efforts to end the war, now in its fifth year, remain stalled over the conflict in the Middle East. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky proposed a meeting with Vladimir Putin in an open letter to the Russian leader late Thursday, saying it was only the leaders who could resolve "key issues".

African migrants flee as South Africa's xenophobic violence surges

Hundreds of foreigners fearing for their lives have taken shelter in community halls on South Africa's south coast, saying mobs of locals were going door-to-door telling them to leave the country. Mostly nationals of Malawi and Mozambique, many told AFP they had fled their homes at the weekend and spent nights in the mountains and bush, before making their way to the small-town community centres.

‘Chased like dogs’: Anti-migrant mobs in South Africa force foreigners to flee

Hundreds of foreign nationals have been forced to flee their homes in South Africa after violent anti-migrant mobs began chasing them down. Weeks of violent protests have led to the deaths of at least five nationals of Mozambique, that country's government said, adding that roughly 300 had fled back over its border Saturday. Ghana and Nigeria have organised emergency repatriation flights.

"Fujimori never again!" Protesters fill streets of Lima ahead of Peru presidential elections
