The fire broke out late Wednesday at the site along Green Avenue near Highway 97, the property that once housed the estate of prominent businessman David Kampe.
The city said fire and emergency crews were called to a construction site for a 48,000-square-foot, three-storey wood frame building at 453 Green Ave. at 10:12 p.m.
This week, city council approved nearly $130,000 in funding to improve safety measures in the area, including the installation of additional CCTV cameras.
No one was injured in the blaze, but Pentictonโs fire chief said the danger was significant, particularly because of the propane tanks involved.
