MTR to suspend services on open rail sections
The MTR Corporation says all train services operating on open sections of its rail lines will remain suspended on Sunday morning while the T9 typhoon warning remains in effect.
The Airport Express, Disneyland Resort Line, Light Rail and all MTR buses will be suspended while the T9 signal is in force, while High Speed Rail services between West Kowloon and the mainland will be halted until at least 4pm.
However, trains will keep running during normal operating hours in tunneled sections of MTR lines at reduced intervals of 15 minutes between trains – except for the stretch between Ho Man Tin and Diamond Hill – where they will run at 18-minute intervals.
The railway cautioned that service frequencies and availability may be adjusted dynamically in response to the evolving severe weather and safety protocols, and is urging passengers to stay tuned for the latest real-time updates.
The observatory has said the T9 signal is expected to remain in effect until at least 7am, when it will consider downgrading the warning depending on local wind conditions.
