On complete intersection projective closures of monomial curves

In this paper, we study the complete intersection property of projective closures of affine monomial curves.

For monomial curves in the four-dimensional affine space, we give a complete and explicit characterization of when the defining ideals of their projective closures are complete intersections.

We also investigate when the projective closures are arithmetically Cohen--Macaulay.
