Tender opens for East Kowloon smart transit system

The government on Friday opened the tender for the Smart and Green Mass Transit System in East Kowloon.

With a length of about seven kilometres, it will have elevated and tunnel sections and nine stations.

The terminals, at Choi Hung East and Yau Tong East, will link up with Choi Hung and Yau Tong MTR stations.

The line will pass through Choi Wan, Shun Lee, Shun On, Sau Mau Ping, Po Tat, Ma Yau Tong and Lam Tin North.

Construction is expected to start next year and the target commissioning date is in or before 2033.

The tender closes next March.
