'I wanted to win for Taiwan': International Booker winner Yang Shuang-zi

This year's International Booker Prize winner, Yang Shuang-zi, fresh from her historic win just two weeks ago, said she wanted to win the award for Taiwan.

"In the current international situation, Taiwan is under immense pressure.

Through literature, I wanted to show Taiwan in its many different facets, and to tell stories that only Taiwan can tell," Yang said during a press conference in Seoul on Monday.
