Euclidean Distance Degrees in Macaulay2

We introduce EuclideanDistanceDegree, a Macaulay2 package that implements symbolic and numerical methods for computing Euclidean Distance (ED) degrees.

The package includes symbolic methods based on minors and conormal varieties as well as numerical methods for unit and generic ED degrees using tools from numerical algebraic geometry.

We illustrate the package functionality with a range of examples in the paper and in the accompanying GitHub repository.
