Government and Sweden Democrats want to temporarily cut cost of public transport

The government and Sweden Democrats today presented a package worth around SEK 6.5 billion aimed at reducing public transport prices across the country.

The cost of a monthly travel pass on public transport would be halved during the second half of 2026 under the proposal.

The timing of the announcement has drawn criticism from the opposition, with the Social Democrats' party secretary Tobias Baudin telling media the government has in the past actively voted against their proposals for cheaper public transport. ...
