HK woman dies in Hokkaido collision
A Hong Kong woman has reportedly been killed in a traffic accident in Furano, Hokkaido, that resulted in three other family members being injured.
It marked the second traffic accident in Japan involving tourists from Hong Kong in a week, with the earlier one seeing an off-duty police officer injured on July 16.
According to Japanese media, the accident occurred on Monday afternoon, involving a collision between two cars.
Police was quoted as saying one of the cars was a rental that was driven by a 52-year-old man from Hong Kong.
A female passenger, 53, was pronounced dead at hospital.
There were two other teenagers in the car, and the four were believed to be part of the same family.
Two Japanese travelling in the other car were also hurt
China's embassy in Japan reminded Chinese citizens to drive safely.
It said a number of traffic accidents involving Chinese citizens have occurred in Japan in recent days, including a train-car collision on July 16 that injured five Chinese tourists.
The embassy reminded Chinese drivers in Japan to be more careful at railway crossings and obey traffic rules.
