Trump imposes double-digit tariffs on dozens of countries as 10% levies set to expire Friday

ONP Summary

The Trump administration is preparing replacement tariffs targeting 60 countries to replace global duties expiring Friday, after the Supreme Court ruled his earlier emergency tariffs unconstitutional in February. The new measures will use Section 301 investigations and forced labor law authorities, with details expected Thursday afternoon.

Moderate:Tactical adaptation — centrist outlets reported Trump shifting legal mechanisms to maintain tariff policy after losing his constitutional challenge, noting Republican concerns.

Conservative:Legal recalibration — conservative outlets focused on Trump using alternative authorities like Section 301 to sustain tariffs after emergency powers were struck down.
