Long-term unemployment remains high in Sweden

Unemployment has fallen since last summer, but the number of long-term unemployed people in Sweden remains high.

The Public Employment Service has been criticised for not doing enough to help people get a job, or to offer training for professions where there are jobs available.

The agency's director general, Maria Hemström Hemmingsson, says that they have relied too much on digital channels in the past. Now they will prioritise to meet in person with people who are, or who risk becoming, long-term unemployed. ...
