Abstract
This study extends the classical generalized homogeneous Lanchester model to a heterogeneous situation.
The complexity of parameter estimation in a heterogeneous situation is handled through a statistical parameter estimation method along with a simulation tool.
Goodness of fit measures of these parameters are further improved by strategically dividing the entire operation into multiple stages.
This study will enhance both the parameter estimation of the nonlinear combat process as well as system dynamics involving multiple factors.
The relative comparisons of attrition coefficients and exponent parameters reveal the hidden information in the data which may not be possible to visualize in the homogeneous situation.
The study is also useful for analytically based wargame development which may not be possible with detailed modelling and simulation approaches.
