Lee kicks off Vatican visit, poised to meet Pope Leo XIV

President Lee Jae Myung is to meet Pope Leo XIV on Monday, as his European trip hits its halfway point.

On Sunday, Lee attended a special Mass for peace and solidarity the Basilica of Saint Paul Outside the Walls in Rome.

He also delivered a speech in the Vatican, the landlocked city-state surrounded by Rome, highlighting South Korea’s commitment to global peace and Vatican City’s role in achieving peace on the Korean Peninsula.
