Visualization, Exploration, and Data Analysis (VEDA)
VEDA provides a collaborative, scalable cloud-computing environment equipped with an interactive visual interface designed for data-driven storytelling. The platform features innovative visualization and in-browser analysis tools, which are supported by standards-based data services that allow users to easily access, analyze, and visualize distributed data. VEDA also ensures a smooth user experience by offering robust documentation, including practical science examples for programmatically accessing data directly within the platform.

MAAP empowers researchers to easily discover, process, visualize, and analyze large volumes of data from NASA and ESA missions, as well as validation and calibration activities. By harmonizing satellite, airborne, and ground or field measurements, the platform enables seamless data comparison, evaluation, and generation. It fosters repeatable and sharable science through a version-controlled algorithm development environment that co-locates tools with data and processing resources. MAAP also reinforces NASA and ESA’s commitments to open data by cultivating open-source software from the inception of a project. Finally, it provides advanced data processing capabilities that fully support sophisticated data analysis and complex scientific workflows.

The Earth Information Center (EIC) aims to provide a holistic view of how the planet is changing in ways that affect the lives and livelihoods of individuals across the globe. While the EIC is the physical presence of a federal initiative to maximize investments made on Earth observation, earth.gov is the digital presence. More than just displaying data, earth.gov demonstrates the intersection between local environmental conditions and global change. ODSI maintains the top-level earth.gov webpage and the centralized data catalog that powers data visualization and exploration within the site. By leveraging open-source standards, data from across the federal government can be easily integrated for visualization and exploration, increasing the economic contribution of federal Earth-observing missions. This work is funded through NASA’s Earth Action initiative.
