Abstract:
The Office of the Chief Science Data Officer of the Science Mission Directorate enables groundbreaking discoveries by expanding the availability and utility of NASA scientific data. This includes developing policies that support open science, modernizing data and compute for scientific discoveries, and advancing scientific discovery through innovative applications and partnerships in data science. In this talk, we will provide an update on the activities of the OCSDO and SMD. This includes the development of policy related to artificial intelligence and open science, new computing capabilities available as part of the Science Cloud and High-End Computing portfolio, and the development of foundation models to support scientific discovery. This will include some considerations and opportunities on the use of artificial intelligence.
