South Korea votes for metropolitan, regional heads

South Korean voters on Wednesday went to the polls to elect leaders of autonomous governments and councilors, as well as local education chiefs and 14 lawmakers at the National Assembly.

This year's comprehensive local elections and the parliamentary by-elections are the first nationwide votes since the presidential election in 2025.

Polling stations opened at 6 a.m.

Wednesday, with 4,241 posts up for grabs.
