Kumla prison takes in first young offenders

The first minors have now been moved into Kumla prison’s youth wing.

Since 1 July children and young people in Sweden who have been convicted of serious violent crimes have been able to be sent to prison rather than closed youth care facilities.

The minors who been moved to Kumla were sentenced before the legal change where the age of criminal responsibility for certain serious offences was lowered. ...
