MANILA, Philippines — Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. on Saturday said the Philippines did not recall its defense attaché in Beijing, clarifying that the official had been called home for consultations as the Department of National Defense (DND) reviews all of its overseas defense attaché posts under a new engagement framework. Asked about reports earlier this month that the defense attaché had been recalled from China, Teodoro said the review could result in the closure of defense attaché posts that no longer meet the department’s operational requirements.
