Violence may bring menopause up to 20 months earlier, review suggests

A study by the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Granada has revealed that exposure to violence against women throughout life has lasting effects that extend into middle age.
The research, published in Maturitas, shows that women who have experienced violence suffer more severe menopausal symptoms and may reach menopause up to 20 months earlier than those without such a history.
The study notes that for every woman who dies as a result of violence, more than 400 suffer serious disabilities, the aftereffects of which are often confused with or exacerbated by menopause. ...
