Karim Khan, the prosecutor who brought the case against Putin, is dismissed

The Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Karim Khan, is finally dismissed from his post.

The Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC), Karim Khan, has been permanently removed from his post, following a decision supported by 82 of the court's 125 member states.

The dismissal is related to allegations of sexual misconduct, claims which Khan has repeatedly denied, insisting that he has not committed any wrongdoing, Reuters writes.

Karim Khan had been the head of the ICC Prosecutor's Office since 2021 and became one of the most well-known figures in international justice, especially after the decision to seek measures against leaders involved in international conflicts.

One of the most important decisions of his term was securing an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin in 2023, on charges of illegally deporting Ukrainian children from territories occupied during the war in Ukraine.

Khan's departure from the prosecutor's post comes at a sensitive time for the International Criminal Court, which is dealing with some of the most important issues of international justice. /Telegraph/ ...
