Memory giants race to expand AI chip capacity

Samsung Electronics, SK hynix and Micron Technology, the world's three largest memory chipmakers, are racing to expand production capacity as demand for artificial intelligence infrastructure continues to outpace supply.

According to World Semiconductor Trade Statistics, the global semiconductor market is expected to grow 90 percent this year to $1.51 trillion.

The memory market alone is forecast to surge 250 percent to $803.9 billion.
