US presidents Donald Trump and Joe Biden were both criticised for being too old to serve as heads of government, as has Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in Brazil.

But India’s Narendra Modi, at the youthful age of 75, is also older and does not face the same questioning.

Old age appears to hold a different value, depending on the culture in question.

But is old age an obstacle to being a good leader?
