IEC officially declares Al-Kasasbeh as replacement MP for Al-Riyati

The Independent Election Commission (IEC) announced that it has officially responded to a letter sent by the Speaker of the House of Representatives on July 14, 2026.

The letter informed the IEC of a vacant seat in the Aqaba local electoral district, previously held by Mr.

Hasan Salah Al-Riyati, following a final judicial ruling sentencing him to two years in prison.

Consequently, under Article (75) of the Constitution, his membership is revoked and his seat becomes vacant, as reaffirmed by Article (10) of the Election Law. ...
