Please refer to the attached Infographic.
This information was collected following displacements caused by armed attacks that occurred on 26 May 2026 in the locality of Cator/Nan Chapelle, located in the 3rd communal section of Petite Rivière de Bayonnais, in the municipality of Gonaïves, Artibonite department.
Approximately 1,103 persons (266 households) were displaced as a result of these attacks. All displaced persons sought refuge with host families within the municipality of Gonaïves. The majority of displaced persons (57%) took refuge in the 1st communal section of Pont Tamarin and the 4th communal section of Poteaux (23%),
It should be noted that the communal section of Petite Rivière de Bayonnais is located near the municipality of L’Estère, which has experienced several armed attacks in recent months (see ETT 81 and 90.1). This situation raises concerns regarding a possible spread of armed violence to other areas of the Artibonite department, particularly the municipality of Gonaïves, which had remained relatively unaffected by such incidents until now.
DTM continues to monitor the situation and will provide updates as new developments arise. ...
