US President Donald Trump said that the Iranians are in talks with the United States, and that he is willing to listen, but emphasised that Tehran cannot have a nuclear weapon.
“They are talking to us right now; they’d love to make a deal. I don’t think they’re ready to. I don’t think it’s time yet, but I’m willing to listen, but they cannot have a nuclear weapon,” Trump said during the annual correspondents’ dinner in Washington, DC, according to Al Jazeera.
Trump said that repeated American strikes have severely weakened Iranian forces.
“Their navy is gone and their Air Forces is gone… 250 jets no longer and 159 boats at the bottom of the sea,” he said.
