16일(현지시간) CNBC에 따르면 인텔은 미국 하와이에서 열린 글로벌 반도체 학회 VLSI 심포지엄에서 18A-P 생산을 시작했다고 밝혔다.
본격 양산에 앞서 공정 완성도를 검증하는 검증하는 초기 생산 단계다.
나가 찬드라세카란 인텔 파운드리 총괄 부사장은 "인텔이 첨단 공정 혁신을 계속해 나간다는 걸 파운드리 구매·협력업체에 보여주는 신호"라고 말했다.
18A-P은 기존 18A 공정을 바탕으로 성능과 설계 유연성을 강화한 첫 파생 공정이다.
인텔에 따르면 기존 18A 대비 성능은 9% 향상됐고 전력 소비는 18% 줄어서 대규모 AI 연산에 적합하다.
