Koreans head to polls in local elections; turnout hits 11 as of 10 a.m.

Voter turnout for Wednesday’s local elections and parliamentary by-elections stood at 11 percent as of 10 a.m., according to the National Election Commission.

Polling stations opened nationwide at 6 a.m., at 14,288 polling stations nationwide.

Of the country’s 44,649,908 eligible voters, 23.51 percent, or about 10.4 million people, have already cast their ballots during the two-day early voting period last week.
