More buying monthly public transport travelcards after price cuts

Since prices were cut on monthly public transport travelcards on July 1 in Sweden, sales have increased across the country compared to last year.

In Västmanland, an area west of Stockholm, 72 percent more travelcards have been sold. But Mats Ellman, who is in charge of public transport there, says it is too early to know if people are travelling more, because many people are still on summer holiday.

Several regional transport authorities say it is too early to tell whether the rise reflects more people travelling, or whether existing passengers are switching from single tickets to monthly passes. ...
